Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the request reaches an installer who works there
- What the room is for: a bedroom, a family room, or a finish that needs one escape window
- Whether that wall has a window now, and about how big it is
- What's outside the wall: a deck, patio, AC unit, gas meter, driveway or fence
- Any deadline from a closing, inspection or lease start
Snap two photos. One of the basement wall from inside and one of the same spot outside, showing anything nearby like a deck, the AC unit, the gas meter or a sidewalk. That answers most of an installer's first questions.
